Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure that uses planing on the skin. A diamond wheel or a brush called  burr or fraise is used in the procedure. The abrasion during surgery can make the skin bleed and later on be replaced by a new layer of young skin that is soft and supple to the touch. How deep in the skin it will be penetrated depends on the how coarse the burr is, and how intense and how much pressure is being applied.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure that removes old, dry, wrinkled skins to reveal the young, healthy, lively skin below. This skin lightening procedure involves the use of high-intensity light emitted by a laser, which is programmed for different levels of penetration.  Deeper penetration is needed where scars, deep wrinkles and unwanted hair and are present.
